I've been making these for awhile and I guess I should make it clear that just about all of these have been portraits or self-portraits of a sort.

I really got it recently when I came across the group on Flick called, 'self portrait without reference to body.' And I see that this is what I have been doing over and over again. Maybe it's always been obvious. I don't know. Substitute the poles for people and you can easily get all the metaphors that extend from there.
