We're #1 in More Than Baseball

The city of St. Louis hadn't even finished celebrating the World Series before it developed a PR problem: it was named most dangerous city in the U.S. (Curiously enough, Detroit came in second there too.) The mayor of St. Louis pointed out that if the suburbs in St. Louis County, including where I live, were taken into account the area would seem much safter. I have a hunch that's why Philadelphia did relatively well; since Philadelphia City and Philadelphia County are identical, the city's statistics encompass both dangerous and safe neighborhoods. Neighboring Camden, New Jersey, however, had not done very well in the past and had been named most dangerous city for the two previous years. The mayor of Camden sounded ecstatic to hear the city had fallen to #5.
